If you’re looking for a cool date night idea put glass blowing on your list. This was one of my cool Groupon finds. I had been eyeing this for a while on Groupon but I didn’t think that I would actually enjoy it. Well let me be the first to say that I was wrong.
First of all, what is glass blowing? Glass blowing is a glass forming technique that humans have used to shape glass since the 1st century B.C. The technique consists of inflating molten glass with a blowpipe to form a sort of glass bubble, that can be molded into glassware for practical or artistic purposes.
I arrived a Juggernaut Glass which is located in the Houston Heights area around 6pm for the 2 hour “pipe making” class. We were asked to place our goggles and then the process of glass blowing was throughly explained. The instructor was very knowledgeable and he answered all of our crazy questions. It seemed simple enough and I was ready to dive in. The small group of 5 people including myself were able to successfully make our own glass smoke pipes and they turned out really nice! I am not a smoker but maybe after retirement I’ll puff on something lol. Until then I’ll admire my handiwork! They usually run deals on Groupon quite often and you can also make things like Easter eggs, heart pendants, and Christmas ornaments.
